Plantation Landscape

Plantation plays a vital role in sustaining biodiversity and strengthening overall ecological balance. It supports habitat creation, improves soil health, enhances water retention, and contributes to climate regulation through carbon sequestration. Beyond environmental benefits, it also supports livelihoods and community resilience, making it a key pillar for both biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.

However, we are facing challenges of depleting green cover and increasing land degradation with 7% of total land degradation linked to deforestation. This is further compounded by poor plant survivability often due to lack of technical knowledge on the right species selection, a one-size-fits-all approach, and limited community participation. Without local ownership and the right interventions, plantation efforts can't be sustained in the long run.

Our Approach

Our approach is centred on the principle of the right plant at the right place. The work revolves around agroforestry and afforestation. In terms of community plantation, our focus is on restoring degraded lands and incorporating livelihood support with it to enhance community participation. Within institutions, the focus is on greening efforts and afforestation to build ecological sustainability and resilience.

We support the entire process, starting with selecting the right sapling as per the area and type of plantation to actually planting it on ground. Some of the plantation types we do include block plantation, dry land agro forestry, mangrove plantation and likewise. We promote the use of native saplings to ensure long term plant survivability. We implement all of these in partnership with organizations to ensure sustainable impact.
