Enabling Industry 4.0 skills through advanced labs and future-ready training ecosystems
As technology continues to transform industries, the demand for a workforce equipped with practical skills and hands-on experience is growing rapidly. While classroom learning builds theoretical knowledge, exposure to advanced technologies and real-world applications is essential to prepare students for emerging careers and foster an innovation-driven mind set.
Recognising this need, we partnered with Gujarat Technological University (GTU) to establish Innovation & Tech Labs that provide students with access to industry-grade technologies and experiential learning opportunities. The initiative aims to strengthen technical skills, encourage problem-solving and prepare young innovators to meet the evolving needs of industry.
Working closely with GTU, we established state-of-the-art Innovation & Tech Labs equipped with advanced technologies for digital fabrication, electronics, robotics and product prototyping. The facilities bring together 3D printing, laser cutting, PCB design and manufacturing, IoT platforms, embedded systems, robotics kits and other modern tools, enabling students to transform classroom concepts into practical applications.
The labs also serve as centres for skill development through hands-on training, workshops and start-up mentoring. By providing opportunities to design, prototype and test products in a collaborative environment, the initiative strengthens practical learning while fostering creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Innovation & Tech Labs have enhanced practical learning by providing students with direct exposure to emerging technologies and industry-oriented skills. To date, over 231 students have received hands-on training, while more than 82 prototypes and student projects have been developed using the facilities. The labs have also supported start-up idea validation and encouraged greater participation in product development and entrepreneurship.
As the initiative expands, the labs are expected to train over 1,000 students annually and facilitate the development of 100+ prototypes every year. By combining experiential learning with advanced technology, the initiative is nurturing a skilled workforce equipped to innovate, solve real-world challenges and contribute to India's evolving manufacturing and technology ecosystem.
