Overview
Strengthening India’s response to the growing burden of cancer requires expanding access to advanced, high-quality treatment infrastructure. Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), under the Department of Atomic Energy, is one of India’s leading institutions for comprehensive cancer care, guided by its commitment to excellence in service, education, and research.
In partnership with TMC, ICICI Bank, through ICICI Foundation, has committed ₹1,800 crores towards the development of three state-of-the-art cancer care blocks at Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra), Mullanpur (New Chandigarh, Punjab), and Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh). This is the largest contribution made to TMC by any institution and marks a significant step towards strengthening oncology infrastructure in India. These centres are expected to benefit an additional 12,500 patients annually, improving access to timely and specialised care.
Strengthening Cancer Care
This collaboration focuses on strengthening cancer care infrastructure by enabling the development of advanced, specialised facilities across key regions. Initiated in 2023, the project is progressing towards the creation of three comprehensive cancer care centres equipped with modern technologies, integrated treatment capabilities, and research support.
The Navi Mumbai centre is being developed as a dedicated radiation oncology facility with advanced imaging systems, outpatient services, laboratories, and radiotherapy units, enabling integrated care under one roof. The centres at Mullanpur and Visakhapatnam are focused on paediatric and haematological cancers, including rare and complex cases, and will include specialised infrastructure such as intensive chemotherapy units, bone marrow transplantation, radiation therapy, and advanced immunotherapies like CAR-T cell therapy. The foundation stone for the ICICI Foundation Child and Blood Cancer Block at Visakhapatnam was laid on June 12, 2025, and for ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology at Navi Mumbai was laid on October 19, 2025, marking a key milestone in expanding access to specialised cancer care.
