Advancing Cardiac Care in partnerships with AIIMS

Enabling advanced cardiac and trauma care at different centres of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Pan-India.

Introduction

Access to timely and specialised cardiac and trauma care remains critical in improving survival outcomes, particularly in high-burden public health settings. Conditions such as congenital heart diseases, cardiac emergencies, and trauma-related injuries require advanced infrastructure, skilled expertise, and rapid intervention, often within the “golden hour.” However, gaps in access to such specialised care continue to impact patient outcomes, especially in underserved regions.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) network plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, affordable healthcare across the country. Strengthening capacities within this network is key to expanding access to advanced treatment and ensuring that critical care services reach a larger population.

Our Intervention

Our approach focuses on strengthening the AIIMS network by enabling advanced cardiac and trauma care infrastructure across multiple institutions. We have supported a range of interventions, including the establishment and enhancement of cath lab facilities, provision of advanced medical equipment, and strengthening of trauma care capabilities.

By working across multiple AIIMS institutions Pan-India, the initiative aims to build a distributed network of strengthened facilities, improving access to affordable and quality care across regions.

Impact

The initiative has contributed to strengthening critical care infrastructure across the AIIMS hospitals, enhancing the capacity to deliver advanced cardiac and trauma care. Improved access to specialised equipment and facilities has enabled timely diagnosis and treatment.

By supporting multiple institutions with Cath Labs and equipment and ambulance, the intervention expands access to affordable, high-quality healthcare, helping ensure that patients can receive timely and life-saving treatment across regions.
