With the growing incidence of cancer, the demand for radiation therapy has increased significantly, placing greater pressure on existing infrastructure and resulting in longer waiting periods for treatment. Strengthening the hospital's capacity to deliver advanced, timely and affordable care became essential to improving patient outcomes and ensuring uninterrupted access to life-saving treatment.
To strengthen cancer care services, we supported the installation of a state-of-the-art Varian Halcyon Linear Accelerator at the Department of Radiation Oncology, CMC Vellore. The advanced radiotherapy platform delivers highly precise, image-guided radiation therapy, enabling clinicians to personalise treatment while enhancing patient safety, comfort and treatment accuracy.
Designed for faster treatment delivery and streamlined clinical workflows, the Halcyon system significantly improves the hospital's ability to treat a larger number of patients without compromising on quality. By integrating advanced technology with compassionate care, the intervention reinforces CMC Vellore's commitment to making world-class cancer treatment accessible and affordable for all.

The intervention has increased the hospital's daily treatment capacity from 38 to 60 patients, significantly expanding access to affordable radiation therapy.
