Introduction
Sainik Schools have long played a pivotal role in enabling an environment for learning, growing, discipline and spirit of service. Alongside academics, sports form an integral part of the schools’ holistic approach to education, helping students build resilience, teamwork and physical endurance.
To facilitate students to realise their full potential, access to quality sports infrastructure and facilities for learning and training is essential. Recognising this need, and in tandem with our vision to promote and strengthen sports at grassroots, we have partnered with Sainik Schools.
Our Intervention
In collaboration with Sainik Schools, we have created and upgraded sports infrastructure to provide students with access to modern facilities and equipment. This includes 23 courts and facilities for a total of 13 sports such as basketball, volleyball, handball, football, badminton, kho-kho, judo, kabaddi and more. These facilities and equipment enable structured sports training, within the campus.
By creating dedicated sporting facilities and enhancing access to quality resources, the intervention aims to nurture talent, encourage greater participation in sports and prepare students to compete at district, state and national levels. The initiative also reinforces the schools' commitment to holistic development by integrating physical fitness with character building.
Impact
The strengthened sports infrastructure in 12 schools is creating new opportunities for about 3,100 potential students to hone their skills, improve performance and participate more actively in competitive sports in a year. Enhanced access to modern facilities is fostering a culture of excellence and encouraging students to pursue sporting aspirations alongside academic achievement.
Beyond sporting accomplishments, the initiative is contributing to the overall development of students by promoting discipline, perseverance, teamwork and leadership. By investing in sports infrastructure at Sainik Schools, the programme is helping nurture confident, resilient and future-ready individuals equipped to excel both on the field and beyond.
