The IFMR Foundation intends to make investments in some key missing links in rural supply chains through the IFMR Trust's Network Enterprises Fund (NEF™).
The IFMR Trust's Network Enterprises Fund (NEF) has been set up to invest exclusively in strengthening rural supply chain activities called as Network Enterprises (NEs™). Such supply chains enable lending support to a variety of businesses in rural India. IFMR Trust's NEF will mentor and promote these NEs across identified supply chains. The target supply chains include processed foods, handicrafts, skills training, financial services, clean drinking water, energy, rural retail, warehousing & terminal markets, dairy, housing, rural business process outsourcing, healthcare and rural tourism.
IFMR Trust's NEF brings to the table a unique model that capitalises on the myriad strengths of low income households. By investing simultaneously in a range of partners across the value chain, IFMR Trust's NEF serves as a catalyst, identifying and filling the gaps between low income producers and markets. The strategy is to bring commercial returns to investors through this market-driven exercise.
