Programme: Support to NGOs working in the area of education for disadvantaged children
ICICI Securities has a long-standing association with Doorstep School (www.doorstepschool.org), which provides access to elementary education to out-of-school and working children in from the ages of 4 to 18 in Mumbai and Pune. Doorstep focuses on imparting age appropriate literacy skills to facilitate re-enrolment and sustained continuance of out of school children in formal school.
Since 2004, ICICI Securities has provided funds for hiring teachers, books and other educational needs of children at the Doorstep centres in Colaba Municipal school. ICICI Securities also encourage their employees to volunteer their time for the children through various activities like Diya making during Diwali, or playing a cricket match with the children.
In addition, ICICI Securities supports the primary section of a municipal school in Lower Parel (Mumbai) run by the Paragon Charitable Trust through their CSO called Muktangan Education Initiative (www.muktanganedu.org). Muktangan provides access to elementary education to underprivileged children and focuses on education in English medium that is community-based, high quality, inclusive and child-centred.
